RESUMO

Photocatalysis is one of the most promising methods for producing organic compounds with a renewable source of energy. Two-dimensional covalent organic frameworks (2D COFs) are a type of polymer that has developed as a potential light-harvesting catalyst for artificial photosynthesis with a design-controllable platform that might be developed into a new type of cost-effective and metal-free photocatalyst. Here, we present a two-dimensional covalent organic framework synthesis technique as a low-cost and highly efficient visible light active flexible photocatalyst for C-H bond activation and dopamine regeneration. 2D COF were synthesized from tetramino-benzoquinone (TABQ) and terapthaloyl chloride monomer through condensation polymerization reaction and the resultant photocatalyst have remarkable performance due to its visible light-harvesting capacity, appropriate band gap, and highly organized π-electron channels. The synthesized photocatalyst is capable to convert dopamine into leucodopaminechrome with a higher yield (77.08%) and also capable to activate the C-H bond between 4-nitrobenzenediazonium tetrafluoroborate and pyrrole.

RESUMO

Photocatalysis is a defendable manner for production of several organic chemicals, energy and its storage from solar energy. For the evolution of metal free, cost-effective catalyst a 2D composite has been appear as a photocatalyst. Here, we had reported the synthesis of a light harvesting composite as a photocatalyst which was assembled by a poly-condensation mechanism between graphitic carbon nitride and tetrakis(4-nitrophenyl) porphyrin and the resulting composite manifest the excellent light harvesting properties, suitable energy band and low charge recombination. The photocatalyst [(NO2 )4 TPP@g-C3 N4 ] enables the efficient photocatalytic production of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) from consumed NAD+ also the production of organic chemicals like 4-methoxybenzylimines from 4-methoxybenzylamines. The photocatalytic efficiency of the photocatalyst was estimated by the percentage of NADH regeneration and the percentage yield of organic transformations. It shows the tetrakis(4-nitrophenyl) porphyrin could enhance the charge transfer capacity of graphitic carbon nitride which shows excellent photocatalysis activities and organic transformations.

RESUMO

Photocatalytic processes triggered by graphene-based photocatalysts under solar light have sparked interest as a new sort of instrument for solar chemical synthesis. Herein we investigated self-assembled graphene quantum dots (GQDs)/NiSe-NiO composite photocatalyst for organic transformation as well as dye degradation. The synthesized GQDs/NiSe-NiO composite photocatalyst has an excellent suitable band gap, high molar extinction coefficient, low toxicity and chemical/thermal stability. The GQDs/NiSe-NiO composite photocatalyst emerges as a new standard for sulfur oxidation and dye degradation reactions under homemade LED light with high yield.

RESUMO

Sulfur-doped graphitic carbon nitride (S-g-CN) has gained significant attention in recent years. Sulfur-doped graphitic carbon nitride (S-g-CN) is a promising metal-free photocatalyst because of its band orientation, natural abundance and groundwork. Improved photocatalytic activity of S-g-CN material for solar chemical production persists a hot yet challenging problem. Herein, we provide an adaptable method for the synthesis of S-g-CN nanocomposite decorated with the moiety of giant polyoxometalate (S-g-CN/Mo-368) that subsequently showed highly efficient photocatalytic activity. The as-synthesized S-g-CN/Mo-368 as a recyclable artificial photocatalyst revealed excellent activity for solar chemical production, that is nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) regeneration under visible light. The immobilized Mo-368 on the S-g-CN surface increased the visible light adsorption capacity of the S-g-CN/Mo-368 photocatalyst. The visible light absorption activity, morphology, element compositions, particle size and zeta potential of S-g-CN powder and S-g-CN/Mo-368 were thoroughly investigated. From the application point of view, S-g-CN/Mo-368 was applied to determine the solar chemical production (i.e. NADH regeneration) under visible light with a higher yield% of about ~ 94.85%.

RESUMO

Objective: Work related musculo skeletal disorders (WMSD) are very common among dental practitioners who use precise hand-wrist motions and prolonged static postures. The aim of this study was to develop an educative ergonomic plan and test its effectiveness in reducing symptoms of musculo-skeletal disorders among dental practitioners. Material and Methods: This study was conducted on a random sample of 50 dental practitioners of both genders (25 male, 25 female) practising for more than 4 years in urban Bengaluru, India and showing symptoms of neck pain, back pain or wrist pain. In the first round of the questionnaire data was collected from all 50 dentists. Next an educative ergonomic plan was developed which included simple exercises and recommendations in the form of do's and don'ts. The study population were asked to follow the guidelines given and perform the exercises given in the poster daily for a period of 3 months. Then, the questions were again asked. The differences in responses during the first stage and second stage were analyzed. Results: The use of the ergonomic plan led to a statistically significant improvement in certain ergonomic practises such as practise of changing their positions during clinical practice, keeping shoulders and arm at correct level while working and keeping instruments within hand reach. There was a statistically significant reduction in pain levels after the use of the ergonomic plan. Conclusion: The ergonomic plan in the form of recommendations and exercises were an effective tool in improving ergonomic practises and reducing the symptoms of musculoskeletal disorders among dental practitioners.

Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) of the scrotum are very rare, with only 35 adult cases in the literature. An 8-year-old boy presented with an ulcerated bleeding AVM of the scrotum. The patient was resuscitated and managed conservatively initially. After the control of bleeding, oral propranolol was started. There was a decrease in the size of scrotal and penile swelling, healing of ulcer with total healing by 1 month, and no recurrence of bleeding episode. To the best of our knowledge, this was the first case of pediatric scrotal AVM treated by oral propranolol.

RESUMO

Currently, high concentrations (15% to 18%) of lye (sodium hydroxide) are used in peeling pears, constituting a wastewater handling and disposal problem for fruit processors. In this study, the effect of ohmic heating on lye peeling of pears was investigated. Pears were peeled using 0.5%, 1%, 2%, and 3% NaOH under different electric field strengths at two run times and their peeled yields were compared to that obtained at 2% and 18% NaOH with conventional heating. Results revealed that ohmic heating results in greater than 95% peeled yields and the best peel quality at much lower concentrations of lye (2% NaOH at 532 V/m and 3% NaOH at 426 and 479 V/m) than those obtained under conventional heating conditions. Treatment times of 30 and 60 s showed no significant differences. Within the studied range, the effects of increasing field strength yielded no significant additional benefits. These results confirm that the concentration of lye can be significantly lowered in the presence of ohmic heating to achieve high peeled yields and quality. PRACTICAL APPLICATION: Our work shows that lye concentrations can be greatly reduced while peeling pears, resulting in significant savings in use of caustic chemicals, reduced costs for effluent treatment and waste disposal.

RESUMO

NEDD-4 are closely related E3 ubiquitin-protein ligases that include a C2 domain, three or four WW domains and a catalytic HECT ubiquitin ligase domain. The WW domains of NEDD-4 proteins recognize substrates for ubiquitination by binding the sequence L/PPxY (the PY-motif) present in target proteins. NEDD-4 functions as a suppressor of the epithelial Na+ channel (ENaC), which interacts with NEDD-4 WW domains via PY-motifs located at its C-terminus. Fifty compounds, all of them flavanoids, were subjected to molecular docking studies. The chemical structures were built, and docking studies were done using Schrodinger. ADMET studies were also performed. Furthermore, evidence is presented suggesting that interaction between NEDD-4 and the selected compounds from the database may also serve to regulate NEDD-4 stability, as this interaction leads to decreased NEDD-4 self-ubiquitination. Collectively, the studies presented here further our understanding of the substrate specificity and regulation of NEDD-4. We have performed molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulation to study the interactions. The results of molecular dynamics simulation confirmed the binding mode of compounds.
